The RDA Interest Group on weather, climate and air quality and the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) are organising a 2-day Spring School this May 25 to 26, in Barcelona.
Sandro Fiore, CMCC Euro-mediterranean Center on Climate Change and EUBra-BIGSEA partner, will provide the first general lecture scheduled for the meeting. The talk on "Dealing with dynamic and real-time datasets, PIDs" will discuss about persistent identifiers and the need to exploit them to reference digital objects accessible over the Internet. It will highlight the PIDs relevance in the management of provenance aspects and use cases involving PIDs for data publication, search & discovery, data analysis, replication, etc.
As a test case, the talk will present the PID management support provided by the Ophidia big data analytics framework and the extensions developed in the context of BARRACUDA (RDA Europe Collaboration project) to adhere to the RDA PIT Recommendation. Finally, more complex PID-enabled use cases involving big and fast data eco-systems in the cloud, like the one developed in the context of EUBra-BIGSEA project, will be also presented.
